Reinventing And Improving Patient Treatment In The
Post-Acute Care Setting With
Innovative Technology

Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing  Center (UES) is proud to announce the launch of Telemedicine Services, a new innovative technology that provides enhanced care options for patients of the skilled nursing facility. UES has partnered with Station MD to launch the initiative to facilitate unrestricted patient access to medical providers during the off-hours.

“It is an exciting time to be involved in the healthcare industry as advanced technologies, such as Telemedicine, are transforming our ability to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients,” said UES President and CEO Alex Solovey. “Through the implementation of our Telemedicine Program with the StationMD team, we will have a significant impact on the patient experience as they will essentially have unfettered access to medical providers 24/7 from the comfort of their rooms. In sum, this program will continue to produce quality outcomes.”

The service is an emerging technology for the remote diagnosis and treatment of patients using telecommunications. Through two-way video conferencing, a medical provider can effectively evaluate the patient using various types of equipment, including stethoscope, vital sign monitoring and a high resolution camera. Accompanied by a trained nurse, patients can virtually “meet” with a physician at any time of the day in the comfort of their own residence. Family members are also welcome and encouraged to attend these visits.

“The use of Telemedicine gives patients the ability to have access to medical providers at any time of the day or night. This immediate availability allows for timely diagnosis and intervention when it’s most needed.  The service is provided by a group of practicing emergency medicine physicians who are expertly versed in the care of adults with any type of chronic or acute conditions; their foremost commitment is providing quality care,” added Dr. Mathew Kaufman, Founder/CEO of StationMD. “This secure online service will provide UES patients unmatched access to medical care, convenience and comfort.”

While the Telemedicine platform provides for an opportunity with limitless potential for patient care improvements, its immediate benefits and uses include:

  • Access to medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week without leaving the facility
  • Alternative to urgent care or emergency rooms for non-emergency situations
  • Enhanced care coordination and interactive communication between patient and medical/health care providers
  • Reduced travel and wait times associated with in-person consultations
  • Inclusion of patients’ families to be a part of the care and treatment of their loved ones

UES continues to be a leader in the post-acute care market through its state-of-the-art facility and determination to embrace new innovations which support its commitment to the delivery of the highest level of quality care to its patients.
